Descriptors

Using the Descriptor menu option, you can find germplasm based on their recorded observations. Note that not all accessions in the collection may have recorded observation records; descriptor searches do not ensure that every accession in the crop is being searched.

In GRIN-Global, a "Crop" is loosely defined as a collection of taxa, as decided by the curator. In some cases, the Crop may have further divisions, to meet specific needs. For example, in the USDA’s NPGS GG database, Vitis vinifera accessions are maintained at two different NPGS sites and are organized under two different crops.
